The Firm

Our client is one of Australia's largest, most well-known, and reputed plaintiff firms. They are seeking to add another dedicated professional to their ranks in the Melbourne CBD office, for a position specialising in Dust Diseases. The firms dedicated professionals love working for a firm which challenges the "norms" of traditional law firms, while supporting its lawyers so well in achieving success for their clients.

The firms Asbestos & Dust Diseases practice litigate across multiple higher jurisdictions in Australia. They represent victims and families of those suffering with asbestos related diseases including mesothelioma, as well as silica induced injuries in the form of silicosis and coal miners black lung associated with the mining industry. As this is a developing area of law, it is extremely cutting edge and hugely important. This team is at the forefront of pioneering silica induced autoimmune injury litigation.

The Role

Our client seeks a lawyer (open to level, with min 2 years pae) to join their Asbestos & Dust Diseases team. Experience in the area is highly sought after, however, an experienced personal injury lawyer of 2 years pae + (min) who is seeking to make a change and move into this area, will definitely be considered. The role is very flexible, with the candidate being "based" in Melbourne but able to work remotely from any Victorian office/home. It can also be a part-time / flexible role.

The role requires experience in litigating personal injury and complex workers' compensation matters and/or ideally Dust Diseases matters (but that is not essential). As this is a new and emerging area of law, being able to write articles on the topic and get the "word out" will be invaluable. You will also be mature minded and confident in dealing with clients, senior and junior counsel and expert witnesses.


You will be an experienced plaintiff personal injury lawyer with complex workers compensation litigation experience seeking to move into a new, highly challenging, and crucial area of law. You will be a lawyer who relishes a challenge and is passionate about helping others. You will be an experienced business developer in the sense that you can write articles for social media etc, about this emerging area of law and all that it entails. You will be a team player who enjoys working with specialists in the field for an extremely generous and successful law firm.
