The Firm & Role

Our client seeks an experienced Commercial Lawyer with min 2 years pae (also open to SA or Partner with practise) to join the Commercial Team. The role involves managing your own files with mentorship, & support, in commercial and business law. You will be expected to have experience in handling commercial contracts, business, asset or share sales and purchases, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances, shareholders' agreements, as well as dealing with terms and conditions of trade and supply. You will have experience with distribution, franchise, reseller and referrer agreements, managing corporate structures and company restructuring and corporate governance and directors' duties.

Lawyers with experience across competition & consumer law are also highly valued by this firm, although those who have more commercial experience, and keen to become expert in consumer law, will be favourably considered. You may work across advertising compliance, trade promotions and permits, media, talent agreements, price fixing, cartel conduct and collusion advice as well as on issues of misleading & deceptive conduct. You will also work across consumer protection, including advising on marketing and distribution practices, unfair practices, product labelling, and other consumer protection issues under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010. Lawyers with IP / IT experience, including trademarks, are also highly sought.

Clearly there is plenty of diverse work on offer as well as a very strong pipeline. You will not be micromanaged, nor clock watched, and there is no focus on billable hours or time sheets. You will have the freedom to run files autonomously and enjoy the reasonable expectations the firm has set, thus ensuing work life balance. You will have a strong team of experienced commercial lawyers and Specialists to bounce ideas off, who have been with the firm for many years and have an excellent reputation in the legal market.
