The Role
As the Financial Controller you will be a pivotal senior member within the Practice Support team and work closely with the Senior Management and Executive teams. This is a broad-based, value-add role, where you can really make it your own and make your mark. You will be responsible for financial controls, analysis, reporting, budgeting, legal compliance, property management and leadership. Your duties will include, but not be limited to:
  • Prepare all schedules for financial reporting in accord with statutory requirements and the needs of the business
  • Evaluate the financial performance of the various entities ensuring cost-effective use of the financial resources to meet operating objectives and plans
  • Implement the financial aspects of the strategic plan ensuring operational budgets are implemented in line with the firm’s vision and goals
  • Prepare and regular review of annual and six-monthly budgets
  • Complete monthly general ledger reconciliations
  • Liaise with Directors and divisional leaders to formulate and deliver reports to assist in the execution of their roles
  • Provide ongoing development and support to staff within the finance team
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Financial Controller within a professional services organisation
  • Experience working in a public practice accounting firm would be highly regarded
  • CPA or CA qualified
  • Excellent leaderships skills with demonstratable experience managing and coaching a team
  • Thorough knowledge of APS and Paysonline payroll system would be highly regarded
  • General knowledge of Public Financial Standards and Corporations Law
