The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an intermediate to senior legal secretary, with private practice experience to join their Melbourne office. This role currently supports the busy Workplace Advisory team consisting of a Partner, Senior Associates, Lawyers, and Graduates. There are two secretaries working alongside side this role, across their collaborative Workplace Advisory & Competition teams.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Typing and collating various legal documents, including (but not limited to): briefs to counsel; court documents for filing; collation of documents for trial; and digital dictation
  • Typing of correspondence, memos and email communications
  • Contact with clients, barristers and other internal staff
  • Entering timesheet data and preparation of client accounts
  • File and diary management
  • File maintenance and archiving
  • Other administrative tasks as required.

The Successful Candidate

The successful candidate will possess a committed, proactive and service oriented approach to work, demonstrating the following skills and experience:

  • Sound organisational and communication skills
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft applications (particularly Outlook and Word)
  • Accurate typing, spelling, grammar and proof reading skills
  • Experience in billing
  • Previous experience in private practice
  • Knowledge of iManage document system and Aderant software is desirable
  • Experience in litigation, competition and/or employment law is preferred
